Paul Minick Obituary

PAUL E. MINICK, joined the Church Triumphant on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Leo and Catherine Minick. He attended Lady of the Lake Seminary, graduated from the Catholic University of Washington and the FBI Academy. He was a proud member of the Fort Wayne Police Department for over 38 years holding ranks of Officer, Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief and Acting Assistant Chief of Police. He created and commanded the Emergency Services Team and The Hostage Negotiating Team. He was a Master Sharpshooter. He always led by example. Most officers either truly liked him or truly disliked him. As one officer stated, "I never really liked Paul because he was always disciplining me; however, if there ever was a crisis, I definitely wanted Paul next to me because he always had my back! He's a cops cop." Paul loved playing sports as well as cheering for Notre Dame football, the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers. He also loved to travel and visited the 48 contiguous United States by motorhome. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Marlyn L. (nee Pfeiffer); daughter, Jacqueline A. (Mark) Wilson of Baton Rouge, La.; son, James L. (Letha) of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Per Paul's request, there is no service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control Angel Fund or Guns 'n Hoses (the police and fire emergency assistance fund), 4916 S. Doyle Road, New Haven, Ind. Arrangements by Midwest Funeral Home & Cremation Society.
