Obituary
Michael (Mike) Bernhardt, 72, passed away on May 12, 2023 at home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on June 5, 1950 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mike graduated from Northside High School in 1968 then joined the Air National Guard from which he retired in 1989. Mike worked a few other jobs after the military and eventually retired from Wagner Electric. He served as a Commander at American Legion Post #241 in Waynedale at one time. Mike loved watching auto racing and even had a short lived amateur racing career. He was always known for his sense of humor and loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He helped raise three snipe hunting girls and loved spending time with all of his grand kids.
Mike was the loving husband of Gail Bernhardt for almost 45 years. Surviving children are Angie Bernhardt (Jamey), Shannon Minnie (Mark), and Carly Bernhardt (Jon). Mike was the loving grandfather to Eion Minnie, Isabella Minnie, and Fallon Foutz. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.
Per Mike’s request, there will be no memorial service. Please make any donations to Humane Fort Wayne in memory of Mike Bernhardt.
