Joyce (Davis) Hidy

Joyce Elaine (Davis) Hidy of Servia, 78, ended her time here on earth on Sunday, October 29th at PRMC in Ft. Wayne.  Those that knew her well, knew she had many health obstacles and we rejoice in knowing she can finally rest and breathe easy.

Joyce was born on January 20, 1945 in Warsaw Indiana to the late Robert and Ruth (Shewman) Davis. She lived and worked most of her life in North Manchester. She had her finger on the pulse of the neighborhood and was affectionately referred to as “The Front Street Blab”. She had a generous heart, the Davis stubbornness and found humor in many things. She had many titles...mom, mother, sissy, Aunt Josie, old lady, mamaw, grandma... and wore each and every one of them proudly.  Her fried chicken and cheesy potatoes were 2nd to none.  

Survivors include her 3 siblings, Larry Davis, Carol France and Lynn Best; her life partner of 40 years Jerry West; 4 children, Rhonda Hidy(Suzanne Vertigan), Ike Hidy(Carrie), Philip West(Jenny Klein) and John West(Jamie) and nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Bryan Hidy and sister-in-law Mary Davis.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
