Dawn LaPorte

Dawn M. LaPorte, 44, passed away after a brief illness March 15, 2022.
Born September 23, 1977 in South Bend, Indiana, Dawn spent most of her life in Fort Wayne. She earned multiple college degrees and worked in both for-profit and nonprofit businesses-most recently as a business manager Humane Fort Wayne.
Dawn loved animals and never met a dog she didn't like. Her own pets were her children and her greatest source of joy. She was as fierce a defender of her pets as she was her close friends and family, and all who loved Dawn will dearly miss her.
Left to cherish her memory and her generous spirit are her husband, Christopher Hanks, and their dogs, Jax, Chance and Zoey; sister, Angel (Adam) Vicsek; uncle, Mike LaPorte; niece, Desi Hower and her children, Virginia "Veebs", Sky "Fester", and Brayden "Pedro"; nephew, Colby (Seana) Mowery; and many dear friends.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Susie and Jerry "Chief" LaPorte; nephew, Jonathon Vicsek; and a host of beloved dogs and cats.
Service is at 5:30p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Midwest Funeral Home and Cremation 1415 W. Coliseum Blvd. with calling at 4:00p.m. A gathering of friends and family will take place after the service.
