David Johns passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in Fort Wayne where he was born and lived all his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Marilyn Sue (Gagnon) Johns, with whom he enjoyed fishing expeditions to Northern Michigan and summer trips to Wisconsin Dells. David worked at Mobile Aerial Towers making "Hi Ranger" utility trucks and also performed maintenance duties at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Wayne. A highpoint of David's childhood was when he was cast in the Children's Theatre (today Youth Theatre) production of Utah Trail in the mid - 1950s, and he loved spending his summers fishing and swimming in Michigan and Indiana lakes. Throughout his life, David was a gentle, kind man, always willing to help out friends and family in need. He loved and owned dogs all his life. David is survived by his sister, Mary Rinne Barnett of Ann Arbor, Mich.; brother, Alan of Columbus, Ohio; niece, Melissa Rinne of San Francisco and Kyoto, Japan; nephew, John Rinne of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and grandniece, Marie Okada. He was also preceded in death by his father, Earl Johns; and mother, Evelyn (Johns) Andrews. Service is 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, in the McMillen Chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne, where calling is from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery with family only. Arrangements are by Midwest Funeral Home & Cremation Society. Preferred memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Music Series in Fort Wayne.
