Clare W. Hanthorne
Obituary
Clare W. Hanthorne, 98, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully April 30,
2023, while surrounded by family. Clare was born April 26, 1925, in Stigler,
Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle (Kitchens)
Holloway. The family moved to Waynedale, Indiana, in 1933. She had eleven
brothers and sisters who all have preceded her in death. Clare is survived by her
son, Jerry A. Hanthorne, Fort Wayne, seven grandchildren, Thomas Schieferstein,
Tracey Aurich, Timothy Schieferstein, Tammy Romines, Mishelle Meyer, Melissa
Madden, and Angela McCann. Twenty-two great-grandchildren, twenty-eight
great-great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Naomi Holloway, Roanoke. Clare
was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Hanthorne, daughter, Joy E.
Schieferstein, grandson, Travis A. Schieferstein, and granddaughter, Denise A.
Lampkins.
A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Saturday June 3, 2023, in the Garden
of the Cross at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 West Main St. A Celebration of Life
will be from 2-5 p.m. with information provided at the service.
