Catherine Holycross Obituary

Catherine Maxine Holycross, 79, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023. She was
born on July 25, 1943, to her parents Carl Holycross and Dorothy Holycross and
was raised with her three siblings: Barb Jones, Ronnie Holycross and Denny
Holycross who lovingly called her Tootie.
She is survived by her children Connie Mitchell and Donnie Mitchell Jr (Kristy).
Grandchildren, Rhiannon Owen, Dustin Screeton, Jeremy Screeton, Tori Presley
and Tyler Mitchell along with 6 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons .
She went to North Side High School and had several different jobs including
working at General Electric, Seyferts, Z-Brick, Magnavox and Roller Dome South.
She started a few different businesses that involved mainly crafts. She could
make just about anything. A Crafting Queen, you might say. If she didn’t know
how to do it – she would find out. She taught a ceramic class in her basement for
several years. Pouring, painting and firing pieces. She loved quilting, sewing,
embroidery, knitting, crochet and so much more.
Her other love was dancing and would enjoy a night at “The Picker” on the
weekends. She also participated in different dancing shows and contests in the
50’s, including Dance Date, on WANE-TV. She danced anytime she could until she
just couldn’t dance any longer. She was never short a dance partner, ever!
She spent the last few years of her life at Lutheran Life Villages, Pine Valley. She
enjoyed Bingo, Flip-it, other games and many of the music activities they
provided.
She will be missed every day by her family, friends and her amazing care givers.

A memorial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 1-3pm at Midwest
Funeral Home, 1415 West Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN.
