Brian Scott Valle was born on October 26, 1940, to Marian Louise Schultz and Emilio Lopez Valle in Benton Harbor, Michigan. After graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1959, he enlisted in the Navy, where he was trained as an aerographer’s mate and involved with code work while stationed in Kami Seya, Japan for four years.
Upon completing his military service, he used the GI Bill to attend community college and later Western Michigan University, graduating in 1969. He ultimately earned a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University.
On March 26, 1968, Scott eloped with Alice Marlene Hall from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Tazewell, Virginia. He built their home on Huyck Lake in Kinderhook, Michigan, where they raised four daughters, numerous pets, and maintained a large garden.
Scott spent his career as a science teacher at Coldwater High School. He was known for having tanks full of exciting specimens and a back room full of ‘wonders’.
During his retirement, Scott, with Thelma Dillen at his side, remained active with various interests, including caring for his pets, boating, woodworking, motorcycling, gardening, and many other projects. He was known as a dreamer and an optimist, always carrying a positive attitude. Scott was a lover of all animals, but especially his chickens, and he always stayed abreast of the news. He lived by the motto, “There’s no such thing as CAN’T.”
Scott completed his earthly journey on October 17, 2023. His warm smile and twinkling eyes will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of enthusiasm, teaching, and optimism.
Scott is survived by his longtime companion, Thelma Dillen of Sturgis, MI.
