Anita (Morgan) Heins

Anita Page Morgan Heins, 76, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 31st , 2022.
She was born to parents Thedford Page Morgan and Estelle Pemberton Morgan on November 16th ,
1945 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Nashville, TN in 1963 and earned her Bachelor of Science
in Education at the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She went
on to teach English in Atlanta Public Schools to such notable students as Dexter King, son of Martin
Luther King, Jr and Andrea Young, daughter of US Ambassador to the UN, Andrew Young, Jr, before
moving to Indiana, where she taught in Bloomington and later at Portage Middle School and Faith
Baptist nursery school in Fort Wayne. She served as PTA President and taught Great Books at Croninger
Elementary, was a long time office manager for Dr. Gary L Gotsch, DDS and retired as a transcriptionist
for Fort Wayne Cardiology in 2011.
In 1969, Anita visited her grandmother, Virginia Pemberton, in Williamsburg, VA and met the love of her
life, Bill, a student at the College of William & Mary. They were married in 1971 in Atlanta, GA and
together raised 2 children, Jennifer and Courtney.
Anita is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, William, daughters Jennifer Skelton of Woodstock,
GA and Courtney (David) Lillich and beloved granddaughter Juniper Lillich of Santa Clarita, CA, and sister
Linda Booth of Charleston, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents Thedford and Estelle Morgan, son-in-law Steve Skelton, and
cherished dogs Mitzi, O’See, Boots and Buttons.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6 th from 6-8pm at the church, as well as one hour prior to
the service which will be held on Thursday, April 7 th at 7pm at St Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004
Reed Rd in Fort Wayne. Pastors Ron Verlee and Gabrielle Ginder will officiate. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
